MIDDLEFIELD, OHIO The Middlefield Banking Company today announced strategic additions to its management team. Edward F. Kent has joined the bank as Vice President of lending, while Joan L. Sweet has been named branch supervisor of the Mantua office.
Kent will have the responsibility for business development throughout Portage County and will be working from the banks Mantua office.
Having started his financial services career in 1976, Kent was, most recently, with Westfield Bank. Prior thereto, he worked with Huntington National Bank in Geauga County. He holds an M.B.A. from Niagara University and a B.S. from SUNY Brockport. A former member of the board of Geauga United Way, Kent is a graduate of Leadership Geauga County and has served on the Advisory Board for The Ohio State University Cooperative Extension, Geauga County.
Sweet, a Mantua native, has spent her entire thirty-one year banking career with Bank One. Most recently she was the assistant manager of the Aurora office. In her new position, she will be responsible for the daily operation of the community banking office located at 10519 Main Street in Mantua. She is a graduate of Crestwood High School and holds both a Series 5 and Series 6 license.
