Phishing Fraud Alert for
Emerald Bank Customers

Emerald Bank recently learned of a fraudulent email sent to many people involving Belmont Savings Bank in Massachusetts. Please note that Emerald Bank is not aware of any of our customers being "a target", but we wanted to keep you informed and alert to the possibility of receiving a "phishing" email. The email claims to have come from Belmont Savings and stated that this is your final notice to enroll in the "Challenge Questions Authenication" secure system. The email also stated that if you don't complete this your account would be blocked/temporarily disabled.

This email was a phishing scam and did not come from Emerald Bank, Middlefield Bank or Belmont Savings Bank. Phishing is a form of fraud that attempts to trick the user into revealing personal information, such as their credit or debit account numbers, checking account information, social security numbers, or banking account passwords through fake websites or in a reply email.

Emerald Bank will never ask customers to divulge account information or passwords via email. Should you receive any questionable emails, please do not to reply to the email or contact the website referenced in the email. Customers can report the email to Emerald Bank by sending an email to .
